Life404 is an ongoing creative archive by James Napper: field notes, essays, images, and book-adjacent fragments about work, technology, attention, memory, place, and the systems people move through without quite examining.
It is also the public field notebook behind The Second Ledger, a novel in progress about land, labor, records, credibility, and the places where official reality stops matching the ground.
Some pieces are finished. Most are fragments. The archive is less interested in conclusions than in keeping useful details close enough to look at again.
